CIE has posted the results of their recent MathComp here. Participation was very high this year and many Metroplex Math Circle participants were among the winners in the older grades. One of the highlights was a presentation to parents by Dr. Andreescu.

CIE/USA-DFW (CIE), The Dallas Fort Worth chapter of the Chinese Institute of Engineers hosted over one thousand people at its annual MATHCOMP/ MATHFUN event held at the COLLIN COLLEGE, Plano campus, at 2800 E Spring Creek Parkway Plano TX 75074, last Saturday on June 5th 2010 from 12:00 NOON to 5:30 PM.
As demonstrated in previous years the event was overwhelmingly and successfully received by the Dallas Fort-Worth community. CIE automated its registration process this year and focused on making the event more upscale for the comfort of the contestants. The purpose of CIE MathComp/MathFun is to offer more avenues to parents and children in creating interests in Mathematics and building enjoyment in the subject to the path of superior problem solving skills and mathematical abilities.
Four hundred and thirty students who just completed grade one to grade seven this spring 2010 semester took the Math tests. Grade one to grade seven question sets had thirty questions and grade seven had forty. Grade one to grade three tests ran for forty five minutes while grade four to grade seven tests ran for an hour. This year’s tests questions were created by a team headed by Professor of Mathematics, Dr Jianzhong Su, from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Arlington.
